Reaffirming Educational Excellence through Technology

Reaffirming its commitment to advancing national development through education and innovation, the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) has donated computers to Nyeburu Secondary School of Dar es Salaam to strengthen the teaching and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Speaking at a special handover ceremony, UDSM Head of Communication and Marketing, Dr. Dotto Paul Kuhenga, said the donation reflects the University’s continued efforts to promote technological advancement and support the government’s initiatives in STEM education.

He encouraged both students and teachers to embrace practical learning, adding that technology is central to future innovation. “It is essential to stay current with global technological advancements, as technology remains a vital pillar of progress in today’s world”.

Dr. Kuhenga also highlighted UDSM’s broader strategy of strengthening community engagement through its comprehensive community linkage programme.

“This initiative ensures that the knowledge and resources at UDSM extend beyond the campus and benefit the wider community, making education a tool not only for academic success but also for national development”, he noted.

On behalf of Nyeburu Secondary School, Headmistress Ms. Mamwi Mgendi Mbaga expressed heartfelt gratitude to UDSM, describing the donation as a major boost to teaching and learning. She stressed that the computers would greatly enhance students’ practical skills, deepen their understanding of STEM subjects, and nurture their passion for learning.

Speaking at the event, the President of the UDSM Student Government (DARUSO), Mr. William Emmanuel, urged Nyeburu students to remain disciplined and focused on their studies. He encouraged them to aim high so that they may one day join UDSM and acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become future leaders and innovators.

Representing the student body, the school’s Head Girl, Ms. Judith John Malebeto, conveyed sincere appreciation to UDSM. She said the computers would not only improve academic performance but also inspire many students to pursue careers in science and technology. “We are truly thankful for this opportunity. It gives us hope for a brighter future”, she said with pride.

This donation marks yet another milestone in UDSM’s commitment to educational outreach and its vision of building a technologically empowered Tanzania.
